Greenfraud revealed!

Greenfraud, often referred to as greenwashing, is the term used when someone is spending far more time and marketing money on making their products appear to be green for the consumer, rather than spending that money actually making the product greener. Companies figure by playing on the desire of consumers to be better citizens of planet earth and pretending they are very eco friendly, they will get more people to buy their product.

The worst thing about this issue is, when those companies that actually are green try to compete with those that only appear so, they might not come out so well. And by buying the non green products, those products that are green are not being supported in the marketplace as well. It's a negative loop.

You can help!

By breaking the cycle and noticing what companies are and aren't following the rules, you can help support the people who are trying to make a difference, and be green. Our hope is that, if enough people catch on to what these companies are doing and don't buy their products, no matter how many green coloured advertisements abound, they will be forced to reconsider their marketing plan and either back up their claims and truly be green, or stop trying to pretend they are eco friendly, when they clearly are not.
